RTW PLUS is approved to deliver the HSR Initial OHS Training Course

Duration:
9am – 5pm over 5 days (All 5 days must be completed within 6 months of the commencement

This course is designed for:
This WorkSafe Victoria approved, learner focused HSR OHS training course aims to provide Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and Deputy HSRs (DHSR), as well as managers, supervisors, health and safety committee members and anyone with an interest in health and safety with the information and skills needed to exercise their powers confidently and expertly under the Victorian OHS Act 2004. 

Entitlement:
Under the OHS Act 2004 (section 67) all elected HSRs and Deputy HSRs are entitled to undertake WorkSafe Victoria approved OHS training for HSRs and choose their training provider in consultation with their employer. RTW Plus is approved to deliver the HSR Initial OHS Training Course.

Under Section 67 of the Victorian OHS Act an employer, If requested, must allow an elected HSR and elected Deputy HSR to attend a WorkSafe approved HSR Initial OHS Training course on paid time, pay the cost of the course and any other associated costs.

Course aims:
This WorkSafe approved training course will assist an HSR and Deputy HSR to understand and effectively exercise their power, protections, and entitlements under the OHS Act 2004. OHS training equips HSRs/DHSRs with the confidence, skills and knowledge to represent their designated work group and to help make their workplace safer. The course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to achieve positive safety outcomes within their workplace using effective consultation and issue resolution processes. 

Learning Objectives:

The learning objectives of the course are:

  • Interpreting the occupational health and safety legislative framework and its relationship to the HSR
  • Identifying key parties and their legislative obligations and duties
  • Establishing representation in the workplace
  • Participating in consultation and issue resolution
  • Represent designated work group members in any OHS risk management process undertaken by the appropriate duty holder/s
  • Issuing a Provisional Improvement Notice (PIN) and directing the cessation of work

Assessment:
There is no formal assessment with this course.
RTW PLUS will issue a Certificate of Attendance to participants who complete all five days of training.

RTW PLUS is approved to deliver the HSR Refresher OHS training course - Work-Related Violence

Duration: 
1 day (9am – 5pm)

This course is designed for: 
Work related violence including sexual harassment is a serious occupational health and safety issue that can be addressed under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004. This WorkSafe approved HSR Refresher OHS training course will help HSRs to understand and exercise their powers effectively. The training will provide HSRs with the confidence, skills and knowledge to represent their co-workers when raising health and safety concerns in relation to work-related violence.

Entitlements:
Section 67 of the OH&S Act 2004 entitles all OHS and Deputy Reps who have completed a 5 day Initial training course to attend a one day Refresher training course each year and choose the course they wish to attend in consultation with their employer. 

Course aims:
This WorkSafe approved HSR Refresher OHS training course aims to provide HSRs with the skills and knowledge needed to raise and resolve, on behalf of their designated work group members, health and safety issues arising from incidents of work-related violence. 

Learning objectives:
Learning objectives for this refresher course are:

  • Consultation, communication and representation
  • Work-related violence: definitions, impacts and injury
  • Identifying risks, risk assessment, prevention and the hierarchy of control
  • Resolving issues

RTW PLUS is approved to deliver the HSR Refresher OHS training course - Work-related Stress

Duration:
1 day (9am – 5pm)

This course is designed for:
HSR’s looking to refresh their knowledge of work-related stress and workplace safety and the identification, prevention and control of the risks associated with mental health and safety. Although HSRs / Deputy HSRs are the primary audience, managers, supervisors, health and safety committee members may also benefit from attending this course

Entitlements:
Section 67 of the OH&S Act 2004 entitles all OHS and Deputy Reps who have completed a 5 day Initial training course to attend a one day Refresher training course each year and choose the course they wish to attend in consultation with their employer. 

Course aims:
Mental health is a state of wellbeing that allows people to realise their potential while coping with the ordinary challenges of life. This training course covers the important subject area of work-related stress and factors which can impact mental health and safety.

Learning objectives:
Learning objectives for this refresher course are:

  • The value of HSRs to workplace safety
  • Provide HSRs with the confidence, skills and knowledge to represent their co-workers (i.e. DWG) when raising health and safety concerns in relation to work-related stress
  • Assist HSRs’ and Deputy HSRs’ understanding of how they can effectively use their powers when participating in the identification, prevention and control of the risks associated with work-related stress
  • Raise issues as they are identified
  • Identify Work-related factors, also known as psychosocial hazards which can lead to physical injury, mental injury or even both at the same time
  • The importance of consultation

HSR’s looking to refresh their knowledge of plant (machinery and equipment) and workplace safety and the identification, prevention and control of the risks associated with plant (machinery and equipment) safety. Although HSRs / Deputy HSRs are the primary audience, managers, supervisors, health and safety committee members may also benefit from attending this course

Entitlements:
